July 29, 2014 By Caring86884150 I am a friend or relative of a resident I definitely would never recommend Lexington Medical Extended Care. It was terrible. My mother almost died in there. She almost aspirated twice in that place. She was on a feeding tube and they had given up on her. They didn't even give her much rehab. I took her home under a hospice from there and she was under hospice only about two weeks. That's how quickly she improved; she is now no longer on the feeding tube or anything. She was at Lexington for eight months. You will hear people crying out, especially at night, in pain, and the nurses don't do anything to help.
On those days they were staffed to the hilt. On the other days my grandmother would have to use the restroom in her adult diaper as they could not assist her to the restroom and I was told that she will just have to deal with it. When you are 89, waiting to use the restroom after you have been given meds to make you go, is the last mortifying thing you want to hear. Much less the end result of to the actual facility itself, it was clean for the most part and for those residents who did not require hands on care, they seems very happy. In the end, if you are capable of taking care of yourself, then this facility is great. If you require actual assistance, look for another place to hang you hat. My family and I came at all different hours so that we would not establish a pattern and would know if she was being mistreated. We never saw any indication of mistreatment but the staff did seem to look down on our practice.
